Sorry it’s been so long since my last update.
We got the news on Saturday that Aleena and I will be staying in Stavanger for another six weeks! We’re excited to have more time in this beautiful city.
So much has happened since I last wrote an email. I learned how to crochet! I learned how to watercolor! I played volleyball many times and still can’t play! We’ve also met a lot of new people, which has been fantastic.
This is actually my last full transfer (six-week block) in Norway, which is hard to believe. I’ll be coming home on August 19th.
These last two weeks have been kind of crazy because I got a really bad cold. On the second day of my cold, we had a big conference with all the missionaries in the area. We ended up canceling all our appointments for the week to be safe. I didn’t have any specific COVID symptoms, but after a few days we decided it would be best for me to take a test. Luckily, I tested negative!
We’re now meeting with people again, which is wonderful. We have church meetings in-person again too! It’s been great to get to know the congregation better.
Here are a couple examples of how strong the dialect is here:
English – Oslo dialect – Stavanger dialect
We – Vi – Me
How – Hvordan – Kossen
Funny – Morsomt – LøyeI –
I-Jeg – Eg
I love my companion, Aleena, and I love being in Norway. I’m so grateful for the gift of prayer. We can talk directly to our Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere, and no one can take that away from us. It seems almost too good to be true, but it is true!
1) All the missionaries serving in Stavanger and our friend Frida sang in church on Sunday
2) Our mission president and some other missionaries came to visit for the conference. We all went to our friend Mark’s ice cream factory for dinner.
3) Stavanger is gorgeous in the summer
4) Norwegians love Burger King, which is funny because I feel like it’s not huge in the U.S.
