Mat took a trip to Upper Egypt in June with his sister and mother.  These are some of the highlights, you
can see more on Heidi's website which has a more complete set of pictures, Heidi's trip.

A night picture from the hotel we stayed on the cataract at Aswan.  How nice to be where the Nile is clean,
I kept cool by keeping my head wet on our felucca ride the next day.

Row of columns at the Luxor Temple in the evening

The hypostyle hallway lit up at night

One of the coolest tombs was Thutmes III.  This and the next few pictures are from his tomb.
He was the greatest warrior king in Egyptian history--never lost a battle.

This is Thutmes being suckled by the tree goddess, the Tree of Life

This was a village that is on the ruins of the Valley of the Nobles.  Our driver in Luxor and Aswan lives here.

In the Valley of the Workers, the tomb of Pashedu

A guy taking a nap inside the courtyard at Edfu temple.  It was a full 55 degrees Celsius there (131 F)

Looking down the columns to the Holy of Holies at Edfu

from my alarm clock

Inside the Temple of Ptah at Karnak, the goddess Sekhmet.  This was a really amazing little temple
tucked away in the corner of the Karnak temple complex.
