Surprise Transfer!

One of my companions, Sister Cutler, was transferred on Thursday so there are just two of us now. It was really sad to see her go. We got a call Wednesday night that she would be leaving the next day for Bismarck. She had bought 5 yards of soft fabric so I could make her a blanket, but I hadn't had the chance to start it. So I started right away and worked on it…

Going to Colorado?

I thought nothing could be crazier than last week, but I was wrong! Our mission president, President Howell, came all the way to Grand Forks to do interviews. That took the better part of our Friday. My interview went really well! I am the head of indoor service for the mission, so I showed him a few documents I had made to help missionaries and the mission office coordinate the service projects I had suggested…

The Stump Part II

It feels like last week was about 3 months ago. It's been so LONG.  On Tuesday, we had a council meeting with our district (the missionaries in Grand Forks and Bemidji). The six Elders took this time to prank us by absolutely filling our car with empty water bottles! They waited until we got to our car and saw the bottles, then drove off before we could throw any at them! They were laughing so…

Lots of Service!

It's been busy! Our mission has encouraged us to do a lot of service, so we did 25.5 hours last week.  A member of our ward contacted us and said she needed our help moving a stump. We assumed she wanted us to put a tree stump in a truck or something. When we arrived, she introduced us to an absolute MONSTER. It was what remained of a gigantic shrun, spikey with thick roots everywhere.…

Grand Forks

I finally made it into the field! This is an update about last week because I didn't have time on Preparation Day to write any emails at all. I was too busy cleaning the apartment, getting stuff at Walmart, and making Indian food. I arrived in Bismarck, North Dakota on the afternoon of May 26th. There were 11 Elders and 1 other Sister on the flight from Denver to Bismarck. Sister Worth and I talked…

Temporary Reassignment

Hey everyone! A lot has happened since I last posted here! I was in the MTC for just under 3 weeks when they shut it down and I was temporarily sent home. It was disheartening at first, but it has been wonderful to spend time with my family during this unusual time. I am lucky to have had that opportunity. Since I arrived at home, I have been in limbo, just waiting for the next…

Coronavirus!

It's been an absolutely crazy week. Last Thursday we went to the travel office and they told us that we would not be going to Norway on April 13th. Before that, we assumed that we were on track to leave next month because we have no access to the news. We didn't realize how bad the pandemic had gotten in the last few days. Coronavirus precautions in the MTC: They have replaced silverware with individually…

First Week in the Missionary Training Center

Hi! I got to the MTC on Wednesday, March 4th. Today is my first preparation day, where we can send emails to our family and friends. Everything is going really really well. I like it here so much more than I thought I would. My companions are Sister Isaksen and Sister Johnston and I love them! We have a lot of fun together. One of the funny things that happened this week was when we…

Welcome!

Hi everyone! Instead of sending out emails every week, I will just post updates on this blog instead. If you would like to get an email when I post an update, just enter your name and email into the sidebar on the right. I enter the MTC March 4th, and I will post my first update sometime after I arrive!
