Great Food, Conference, & Oslo Temple!

Hi everyone,

I am now living in Skien. The city is really beautiful; we live on a canal. My companion Sister Bailey is fantastic and she comes from Oklahoma. She is a professional dancer and I am excited to get to know her better.

I loved watching the semi-annual LDS General Conference. We could watch the morning session in our evening and we would watch the afternoon session the next morning. One of the talks that stuck out to me was “Infuriating Unfairness” by Elder Renlund. Elder Renlund said that Jesus Christ experienced more unfairness than anyone else on the Earth. It wasn’t fair for Him to suffer the sins of others even though He lived a perfect life. I guess that is another thing we experience with which Jesus can empathize. Things won’t always be fair. I was so excited to hear WE ARE GETTING  A TEMPLE IN OSLO, NORWAY! The members here have been hoping and praying to have a temple in their country for hundreds of years. Rumors are flying about where it will be located, but many people think it might be in Lillestrøm, where I served for 7 1/2 months.

My companion and I really looked forward to making a lot of good food that we could eat while watching conference. The entire country shuts down for holidays, so we are supposed to reduce our contacting of people for the days around Easter. Easter is a week long holiday in Norway. But since we are in quarantine, we don’t see many people anyway. Most of our contact is responding to social media posts. Back to food- we made roasted lamb, mashed potatoes, and homemade dinner rolls. Another meal was BBQ chicken wings with twice baked potatoes. It was fun to cook because I don’t get a lot of time to cook as much as I would like to.

We also made cinnamon rolls this weekend and we delivered rolls to a woman in our ward here in Skien and I later found out my family in Rexburg delivered cinnamon rolls to a woman in their ward in Rexburg. The crazy part is the two women in different countries knew each other and texted back and forth about the delicious cinnamon rolls they both received from different Whoolerys on different continents- so funny

Hope you are all well!

Love, søster Whoolery
